Privacy Policy
Effective Date: September 7, 2026
Hearth (“Hearth,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides an iOS application that helps users turn screenshots, photos, documents, and PDFs into calendar events. This Privacy Policy explains what information Hearth collects, how it is used, and the choices available to users.
1. Information We Collect
Account Information
When a user creates an account, we may collect information such as the user’s email address, first name, account identifier, and authentication information. Authentication information is handled through our authentication service provider.
Uploaded Content
Users may choose to upload or share screenshots, photos, documents, and PDFs with Hearth. These files may contain schedules, appointments, names, dates, locations, work shifts, school information, or other information selected by the user.
Hearth processes uploaded content only to analyze it, identify relevant calendar information, and provide the app’s requested functionality. Users should only upload content they have the right and permission to process.
Extracted Event Information
Hearth may generate and store event details derived from uploaded content, including event titles, dates, times, locations, descriptions, assignees, and related scheduling information.
Calendar Information
With the user’s permission, Hearth accesses Apple Calendar to create, display, update, and delete calendar events requested by the user. Hearth only accesses calendar information as needed to provide these features. Users can manage Calendar access through the iOS Settings app.
Subscription Information
Hearth offers auto-renewable subscriptions through Apple. Apple processes subscription payments. Hearth and its subscription-management provider may receive subscription status, product information, transaction identifiers, and entitlement information. Hearth does not receive or store complete payment-card information.
Technical Information
We and our service providers may process limited technical information required to operate, secure, diagnose, and improve the service, such as device information, app version, error information, request logs, and usage-related information.
2. How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Create and manage user accounts.
- Analyze user-selected screenshots, photos, documents, and PDFs.
- Extract and organize calendar event information.
- Create, update, and delete events at the user’s direction.
- Provide subscription access and restore purchases.
- Operate, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot Hearth.
- Respond to support requests.
- Prevent misuse, fraud, and security incidents.
- Comply with applicable legal obligations.
3. Artificial Intelligence Processing
Hearth uses artificial intelligence services to analyze content uploaded or shared by users. Uploaded content and associated instructions may be transmitted to service providers that process the content on Hearth’s behalf for the purpose of generating calendar-event information.
Users should avoid uploading highly sensitive information that is not necessary for creating calendar events. Hearth does not guarantee that artificial intelligence output will always be complete or accurate. Users are responsible for reviewing extracted events before saving them.
4. Apple Calendar
Hearth requests access to Apple Calendar only when calendar functionality requires it. Users control whether Hearth may access their calendars and can revoke access at any time through their device settings.
Hearth may store identifiers associated with events it creates so that the correct Apple Calendar events can later be updated or deleted. Hearth does not sell calendar information.
5. Event-Sharing Links
Hearth may allow users to create shareable links containing selected event information. Anyone who receives or obtains a valid share link may be able to view the information included in that link. Users should only create or distribute links for information they are authorized to share and should treat those links as shareable information.
6. Service Providers
Hearth relies on service providers to operate the app, including providers for:
- Account authentication and database services.
- Artificial intelligence and content analysis.
- Subscription and entitlement management.
- Apple in-app purchases and Apple Calendar integration.
- Website hosting, infrastructure, security, and diagnostics.
These providers may process information on Hearth’s behalf subject to their applicable terms, privacy policies, and data-protection obligations.
7. How We Share Information
Hearth does not sell users’ personal information.
We may share information:
- With service providers that help operate Hearth.
- When directed by the user, including through event-sharing features.
- When reasonably necessary to protect Hearth, our users, or others.
- To comply with applicable law, legal process, or lawful government requests.
- In connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or transfer of business assets.
8. Data Retention
We retain account information, extracted event information, and other service data for as long as reasonably necessary to provide Hearth, maintain security, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements.
Uploaded files and processing data may be retained temporarily or for as long as reasonably necessary to complete processing, provide requested features, maintain reliability, prevent abuse, and comply with legal obligations.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information and how it is used.
9. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. However, no electronic transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
10. User Choices and Rights
Depending on location, users may have rights regarding their personal information, including the right to request access, correction, or deletion.
Users can:
- Review and edit extracted events before saving them.
- Control Apple Calendar permission through iOS Settings.
- Manage or cancel subscriptions through their Apple account.
- Delete their Hearth account through the app’s Settings screen, subject to any necessary subscription-management steps.
- Contact us with privacy questions or requests.
Deleting a Hearth account does not automatically cancel an Apple subscription. Subscriptions must be managed separately through Apple.
11. Children’s Privacy
Hearth is not specifically directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 without appropriate authorization. Parents and guardians should supervise any child’s use of Hearth and should not upload a child’s personal information unless they have the authority to do so.
If we learn that personal information was collected from a child in a manner inconsistent with applicable law, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
12. International Users
Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where Hearth’s service providers operate. Data-protection laws in those locations may differ from those in the user’s place of residence.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as Hearth evolves or as legal requirements change. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use of Hearth after an update means the updated policy applies to future use.
